Traffic … life…. All the same ! Driving through the crazy traffic of Cape Cod, I just realized how similar people’s personalities are in traffic as it is professionally or in life in general ! Have you ever noticed people who cut you off …. Some refuse to look at you as they are cutting you off Some pretend to apologize as if they had no control on their car Some stare at you as is it’s a staring battle and they will win no matter what Some swear at you as if you forced them to do so Some cut you off dangerously close to your car because they hope you will stop Some wave, smile and thank you though you never intended them to cut you off And then … Some actually wait and ask you if they can cut in And now … look around your work place … which team member would fit which of the criteria above ? It’s just how we all are … and which one are you ? Something to think about as we deal with people and try to work with them…

Respond …or….react Recently I learnt a very valuable lesson …. Very often in life we react to situations… to comments… to people….to lack of comments … the list goes on. How about if we took a few moments to truly assess the situation and then respond to the situation ….not react but respond. Our response could be ….no response or ….. a response …. but I often think we cross the fine line of reaction vs response all too quickly. Again… this could be just my perception and experience and lesson learnt … or it might ring true with you too. I think life is better when we respond!
